Membership

We invite you to become a member of Congregation Shevet Achim. Our membership is comprised of people who come from all walks of life, and one of the prime tenets of the congregation is to make all new members feel like a part of the shul as quickly as possible. Membership dues are used to fund the operations budget of the shul: employee salaries, rent; shul-hosted kiddushim, the kids program, etc. Our membership costs are among the lowest of the synagogues in the greater Seattle area. There are no additional charges for high holiday seats.

Dues

Dues are recorded on an annual basis and will be billed at the start of our September 1 fiscal year. You may choose to pay your dues in full at start of each year, or you may choose to be billed quarterly. You will be asked to make your annual dues commitment and billing selection at the start of each fiscal year. If you join the shul mid-year, your dues will be pro-rated.

 

Congregation Shevet Achim dues rates for 5771 (Sep 1, 2010 - Aug 31, 2011) are below. In keeping with the spirit of the shul, we ask you to support at the level that is financially feasible for you and/or your family. We do not ask for copies of your W-2 or IRS tax returns and your contribution will be kept confidential. Please consider the following categories when making your decision:

 

  • BASIC membership at $1,400.00 per year
  • CHAI membership at $1,800.00 per year
  • DOUBLE CHAI membership at $3,600.00 per year
  • FOUNDER membership at $5,000.00 or above per year
  • ASSOCIATE membership at $500 per year (available if you have a primary membership at another shul, but wish to support Shevet Achim, does not include voting rights)
  • What you can afford - please contact the dues chairman at dues@shevetachim.com to discuss. No one will be turned away due to inability to afford a full membership.

Donations

Donations are always welcome and very much appreciated. If you wish to send monetary donations to be used for a specific reason, please enclose a note directing us how the funds are to be used. Donations can be made with your dues payment or at any time by mail or online at our donation page. Please specify on your check which portion is to be allocated to a donation as to insure proper credit for your generosity. All donations are tax deductible and you will receive a notice at the end of the year for your tax records.

 

Payments

Please write a check or money order payable to Congregation Shevet Achim. All funds should be remitted to: P.O. Box 1552, Mercer Island, WA 98040. All invoices or statements are payable upon receipt.

 

Mailings

Congregation Shevet Achim sends out bi-monthly newsletters updating our members/supporters on the most current happenings at our shul. If you would like to be on our mailing list or know of someone who would, please send your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number to communications@shevetachim.com, as we do not wish to leave anyone out!
